ORV Fees
  • Daily passes may be purchased for $10.00 at the entrance of Freeman Park
  • The cost of the annual permit is $50.00.
  • Permit applications are not required for daily passes.

  • To receive a permit to Freeman Park, please mail a check payable to Town of Carolina Beach in the amount of $50 with your permit application along with a copy of your drivers license, vehicle registration and a self-addressed stamped envelope to Town of Carolina Beach Parking Office, 1204 N. Lake Park Blvd., Suite D, Carolina Beach, NC 28428 or call (910) 458-4614.
  • Season permits may be purchased in person at the Town of Carolina Beach Parking Office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and at Carolina Beach Town Hall, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
  • You can also purchase permits from local businesses such as Island Bait and Tackle (which is also an TrueValue Hardware) http://islandtacklehardware.com/ They prefer you pay in cash for the permit but can also take cards if necessary.
Trail Summary
  • Beach offers approximately 2 miles of  driving
  • Carolina Beach is not a trail system
  • Beach is accessible to stock (unmodified) four-wheel drive vehicles
  • While it's not difficult there are times when the sand near the entrance can be over a foot deep. Make sure your rig has enough ground clearance
    May be necessary to reduce air pressure in order to maximize flotation on sand
  • Driving on or immediately near dunes is prohibited
  • Driving in the surf zone (hard packed sand near the waters edge) is prohibited
  • Trailers are prohibited on beach

  • Overnight camping is allowed on the beach past marker post 6.
  • Also, you can have a campfire as long as you have a metal container (such as a wash tub found at Island Bait and Tackle) to have a fire.
