The August wheeling trip is to Windrock Park in Oliver Springs, TN and is scheduled for August 23, 24, and 25.

Windrock Park is 72,000 acres of off-road fun and excitement located in Oliver Springs, TN. The trails accommodate all types of vehicles and have Jeep trails for every skill level. The park also offers a variety of amenities including more than 300 miles of trail riding and hiking, and camping. This really is one of the best and most rider friendly places I have been. This is The Place for new members to get to know the club and its members and to experience some of the best Jeeping available.

This park is perfect for individuals and families as well. The lodging at the park books up fast and in fact there are only 3 cabins left and I have already reserved those 3. I have reserved 3 cabins each of which will sleep 8 people for a total of 24. Those are cabins 11, 12, and 13 which are up near the office at the campground and right next to the camping areas. The cost for the cabins is about $25 per night, per person if it is full and a little more if not. Camping for tents and RV is available (see the website below) and the costs vary depending on what you want. All the details are on the website. Just let me know how much room you need and I can set it up for you or the whole family. I will need to get confirmations as soon as possible in order to keep the reservations for the cabins.

There is also a permit fee to use the Park; the details are available on the website below.

This is the website for the park where you can see all the facilities they have and more details on the park, the facilities, and the riding. Windrock Park. You can also call them at 865 435 125. The website also has location and map information.

Windrock is about 350 miles and 5½ hours from Raleigh. It is only about 7 miles from Oak Ridge, TN where there are hotels, restaurants, and shopping (even Walmart). There is fuel available in Oliver Springs, TN and that is only a few miles from the park.

Let me know if you have any questions and also please let me know if you plan to attend and if you will need space in one of the cabins.

Is there a listing of the activities and rides we will be having?

This is a club sponsored trip. No organized rides with trail guides. We will decide what trails to hit when we get there. Depending on turnout, there might be enough for 2 groups but if not, many of the advanced trails have a bypass for those who want to use it.

As always, we don’t want to put anyone in a position that they feel uncomfortable in.

I’m moving the replies from the NC4x4 thread to here so that Lee can keep track. Unfortunately, I don’t believe we have a poll function with what we have right now.

    So:

I’m in. Windrock was really fun last year except for my ride home (my fault).

Depending on how many go, I may opt for a spot in a cabin but currently planning on bringing the camper.

Carl and I are in and would like a spot in one of the cabins. It was great last year! AJ will be coming too – he’s been wanting to go ever since I got home last year. He will likely bring a friend so may I reserve 4 spots in a cabin please? Thanks for organizing this again, Lee. Looking forward to it!

Thanks for posting this Lee. I had it on my to-do list to email you about this today. You beat me to it! 🙂
At this point it doesn’t look like Pat & I will be able to make it, but I’ll post back to this thread if things change.

Great, will there just be one? As we get closer, you can let me know if you want a cabin or not.

I’m in (quantity 1). I’ll go in on a cabin. Hopefully we can fill it up to get the cost down a little more than last year. But everyone should know that these cabins are really nice!

Just remember to fill up these cabins you either have to sleep two people to a bunk or bring a cot.

Pretty sure I can’t make it, but here’s the link to CNC4x4’s Trail Dust article from the 2017 Windrock Ride
